We’ve been devastated by the news in Ukraine, and this guy just called President Zelensky a “thug” and “evil” in a video that surfaced last week. Elections in our state can turn on a dime. Chief Justice Cheri Beasley lost her race by 401 votes. Now she’s running for U.S. Senate. We don’t have to accept the unacceptable – aka – Madison Cawthorn or Thom Tillis or Tim Moore or Phil Berger or Paul Newby.
We have an uphill battle this year. The NC GOP is going all in. Madison Cawthorn wouldn’t say things like this if he didn’t have support. Even Joni Ernst, an extreme Republican in her own right, called him out on the Senate Floor, but he still got the votes to sit in his Washington D.C. office.
We’ve got to vote him – and everyone like him – out. That means turning out voters of color to the polls: 401 votes, y’all. Cheri Beasley lost by 401 votes. That’s a real easy win number to beat.
We can do this. Pitch in $15 or whatever you can do to fight back and make sure we hit 90% turnout for voters of color. It will be all about turnout this year. Make no mistake. And we’re doing the work.
