That's how many questions about climate change moderators asked during last month's Democratic presidential debate on CNN. This failure to address the climate crisis was shameful. With wildfires burning and cities flooding right now, the climate crisis demands more from the media covering the presidential primary.

We have a chance to make this right and let voters hear the real climate action plans that will directly affect them. The candidates are gathering for another debate, hosted by MSNBC and The Washington Post, on Wednesday, November 20 in Atlanta. If enough viewers and voters contact the moderators now, we can make sure that climate change gets the airtime it deserves.

Wednesday's debate will be moderated by Rachel Maddow, Andrea Mitchell, Kristen Welker, and Ashley Parker. It is only the second time in U.S. history that an all-female panel has moderated a major political debate. Across the globe, women are impacted more than men by climate change — this panel of moderators and showing of female leadership is all the more reason to press each candidate on their plan to justly address the climate crisis.

We must hear from the candidates on their plans for climate action and vision for a more equitable, sustainable future. Not addressing the climate crisis at this pivotal moment for our country would be dangerous and irresponsible.

The glaring omission of climate change from the last debate was disrespectful to the nearly 80% of Democratic primary voters nationwide who say that a candidate's position on climate change is very important to them, according to one recent poll. Voters want to hear from the candidates on this issue!

If enough of us petition the moderators to make climate change a priority in the debate, they will be forced to take notice. We owe it to ourselves and to those on the front lines of climate change to be bigger, bolder, and more ambitious in our effort to make confronting the climate crisis a central focus of our political discourse. So far this cycle, The Washington Post and MSNBC have covered climate change and the primary consistently. But we need them to keep it up. In just the past year, the U.S. has experienced climate change-fueled deadly wildfires, devastating floods, the hottest month ever recorded, and a terrifying warning from the U.N. that our time left to act is rapidly running out. Don't let this chance to press candidates on climate action pass us by.
