Team,

Both of my grandfathers were sons of immigrants, grew up poor, and fought in World War II. Neither graduated from college but they were able to find good, middle-class jobs.

Grandpa Bob was a union steelworker in Worcester. Grandpa Louis was a bookkeeper at a fruit canning company in New York. With those jobs, they started families, sent their kids to college, and, with the help of the GI bill, bought homes.

Their kids, my parents, met in college and started a business together in Rhode Island. In turn, they built a life for me and my siblings that my grandparents never could have imagined.

This was the American Dream that was so common a generation ago – the promise that with hard work and perseverance, each generation can leave a better life for their kids than they had for themselves.

But today, people are working harder and harder just to keep up with the rising cost of living and they are worried about the kinds of lives their children will have.

I’m running for Congress because my wife Julia and I want our child to grow up in a country where the American Dream is possible for every child regardless of their zip code.

I've spent the last seven years as Treasurer, working to build a stronger and more equitable economy for all Rhode Islanders. In Congress, I’ll fight for policies that help restore the American Dream. I’ll work to help families keep up with the rising cost of living by taking concrete actions like lowering the price of prescription drugs, ensuring every child has access to free pre-k, making higher education and job training more affordable, and investing in the clean energy jobs that will reduce utility costs while helping to combat climate change.

But to build a winning campaign, I need a grassroots team by my side.

We're quickly approaching the first FEC end-of-quarter deadline of our campaign. If you're ready to rebuild the American dream in our state -- and our country -- will you chip in $10 or more to support my campaign for Congress?
