Forty-five years ago, far-right activists in California pushed a homophobic ballot measure that sought to fire teachers for, essentially, “saying gay.”

Forty-five years ago, far-right activists in California pushed a homophobic ballot measure that sought to fire teachers for, essentially, “saying gay.”

The author of the bill said its purpose was to remove teachers who are “pushing homosexuality.”

Sound familiar?

The measure was defeated. Soundly. 58% to 42%. Even Ronald Reagan denounced it.

Today in Florida, Republican Governor Ron DeSantis is pushing a similar measure, one that has rightly drawn the ire of some of the state's largest and most influential corporations, including many workers at Disney.

Disney itself said they are disappointed and concerned with the bill as well.

So to Disney, I say: the door is open to bringing jobs back to California — the state that actually represents the values of your workers.

The door is open.
