The Guardian is sounding an alarm for the Michigan Secretary of State
race:

“A Trumpist takeover of the battleground state is raising eyebrows over
concerns of the end of ‘free and fair elections’”

Trump isn’t just talking about overthrowing our democracy. He and his
supporters are actively trying to replace Democratic pro-voter,
pro-democracy Secretaries of State with partisan Big Lie believers in key
swing states where the 2024 presidential race will likely be tight. That
could give them a chance to overturn results they don't like.

The article outlines why Michigan in particular is especially troubling:

“Trump and his allies are backing numerous candidates in the coming
midterm elections across the US, including in other vital states like
Arizona and Georgia.

“But his intervention in Michigan raises particular eyebrows due to its
role in helping Trump to win in 2016, before flipping back to the
Democrats in 2020 and helping oust him from office.”

Trump and his followers have a real chance at overthrowing our democracy
in 2022 and 2024. Now is the time to ensure pro-voter, pro-democracy
Democrats win and preside over our elections.
