The Dishonesty of the Abortion Debate
(The Atlantic) What I can’t face about abortion is the reality of it: that these are human beings, the most vulnerable among us, and we have no care for them. How terrible to know that in the space of an hour, a baby could be alive—his heart beating, his kidneys creating the urine that becomes the amniotic fluid of his safe home—and then be dead, his heart stopped, his body soon to be discarded.

An Honest Abortion Debate
(National Review) The chief strength of Flanagan’s essay is its nod to the power of ultrasound technology, which reveals what our abortion debate so often leaves out: These are human lives. The conflict over abortion is dishonest and unwinnable not because both sides make poor arguments, but because only one side is willing to admit that reality.

Dennis Gerber on the power of charity in family life and the impact of adoption
(Life, Liberty, and Law) Dennis Gerber, President & CEO of the Knights of Columbus Charitable Fund, joins Tom Shakely to speak about the importance of charity and the value of modeling solidarity and service in family life through intentional philanthropy. Dennis also shares his experience with adoption and reflects on the power of love to transform lives. Knights of Columbus Charitable Fund enables anyone to create a donor-advised fund in a safe, secure, and confidential way in order to maximize one's philanthropic impact.

LISTEN TO 'LIFE, LIBERTY, AND LAW'

I wish I'd never been born: the rise of the anti-natalists
(The Guardian) Adherents view life not as a gift and a miracle, but a harm and an imposition. And their notion that having children may be a bad idea seems to be gaining mainstream popularity.

Ohio Suicide Crisis as State Nurses Support Assisted Suicide
(National Review) Suicide contagion is real. Thus, when a nursing association supports some suicides — because that is what the ONA did despite the use of the euphemistic term, MAID (medical aid in dying) — when it gave its moral imprimatur to doctors helping people kill themselves, that makes the overall job of suicide prevention much more difficult. After all, nurses are telling us that suicide can be peachy keen and a proper response to suffering.

Missouri withholds Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood for second year
(The Kansas City Star) The intention was to improve upon language inserted into the state budget last year that also prohibited funds from going to abortion providers and their affiliates, according to Missouri House Budget Chair Cody Smith, R-Carthage.
