Friend,

"We've got to keep in mind that the crisis in Syria is still ongoing... we had Iran, we had Turkey and we had Russia in Geneva deciding on the future of Syria and we were not at the table."

That was what I told Neil Cavuto on Fox News in my interview [[link removed]] , speaking on the need to have a foreign policy that brings together allies and foes alike through diplomacy to solve challenges, rather than a scattershot approach that ultimately hurts us.

"When we absented ourselves from Syria from abandoning our Kurdish allies, we removed ourselves from the countries that will decide the final outcome in that country," I told Cavuto, just like we hurt ourselves by abandoning the Iran nuclear accord: "We had fixed Iran by bringing together strange bedfellows like Russia and China by convening the world to remove nuclear capabilities, because they would have had two in sixty days, and then this President said we're going to break our word. Our President forgot that militaries can't fix a problem - they can only stop them. "

I compared this miscalculation to Iraq: "Democrats and Republicans alike who voted for that tragic misadventure didn't understand how it might end before they decided to use our military." I know the awesome power of our military, but also its limitations. That's why at such a turbulent time in the world the unique national security background of mine is not just unique among all the candidates, but it is sorely needed by our next President and Commander-in-Chief.

Please contribute to help ensure we have President who understands the world and how to lead friends and allies to ensure our collective national security interests, because America is facing a very challenging decade, from China and cyber warfare to autocrats and climate change.

Warmest regards, Joe
