Hello,
Vermont’s Republican governor won reelection in the 2020 election by 41 points. That was the largest margin of victory in a Vermont governor’s race in nearly 25 years, even as President Biden and other Democrats won big on election night.
Now, national Republicans have targeted our open Senate seat as a “sleeper” race for November’s midterms. Mitch McConnell, Rick Scott, and the rest of GOP leadership are desperate to return to power, and now they’ve identified Vermont as one potential path to regaining the Senate majority.
If we don’t protect and expand our Senate majority, we can’t act on voting rights, reproductive justice, climate change, prescription drug prices, and so many other issues that touch people’s lives. But with the GOP’s big victory in Vermont just over a year ago, a Republican could win another major Vermont election.

If Senate Republicans win back the majority, we can’t pass the progressive agenda our country needs for its future, from Medicare for All to a Green New Deal.
The best chance we’ve got at protecting our democracy is voting more Democrats into the Senate—and Peter keeping this seat blue is essential.
Rick Scott and Mitch McConnell have explicitly targeted Peter and this Senate race because they think it’s a vulnerable target, but that’s only because they haven’t experienced the full strength of this grassroots coalition. We need to make it clear to our opponents that we’re not just here to fight—we’re here to win.
Thank you!
Team Welch
