John – I'd like to tell you a little bit more about my story and my vision for New Mexico. It's a longer email, but it's important, so I hope you'll read it until the end.
My ancestors have lived in New Mexico for twelve generations: I grew up in Santa Fe, and all of my big milestones – from my very first steps to the moment I walked across the stage to accept my college diploma – happened right here in New Mexico.
Growing up, my grandfather served as a state Supreme Court justice. It wasn't long before I chose to take a similar path, dedicating my life to public service in order to build a brighter future for our state, first as the Director of Aging, then as a U.S. Congresswoman, and now as Governor.
When I became our country's first Democratic Hispanic woman elected to serve as a Governor, I made a promise to advocate for every community in our minority-majority state. Since then, I've kept my promise by legalizing cannabis to end the failed war on drugs, I've strengthened public schools by prioritizing educators and students, I've provided free higher education to every student, and more.
My Republican challengers, on the other hand, have used every chance that they can get to divide us while offering no plans to run our state. I'm a New Mexican through and through, so I know that these extremists don't represent our values, and I'll never stop fighting to keep New Mexico blue.
But the truth is, I can't defend our state from the GOP by myself, and I have a tough road ahead. I haven't been able to raise a single dollar since December because of a fundraising blackout. Now that the fundraising blackout is lifted, I'm counting on 10,000 supporters to become Election Year Members before midnight tomorrow.
John, if you believe in my progressive vision for New Mexico, I need you on my side right now: Please, will you donate $5 or more to become an Election Year Member?
