John, my life has been defined by big dreams, hard work and family.

As a first-generation college graduate, I sometimes felt like my family was in the classroom with me – my grandfather, who came from Mexico so his children and grandchildren could have a better life, my parents who pushed me to get a good education and pursue my dreams, and so many others.

None of them ever got the chance to graduate college – but they worked and sacrificed so that my sister and I could. I'll never forget how happy they were the day I graduated: the smiles on their faces, the pride in their eyes. That moment belonged to all of us.

That’s what makes America so special: We’re a country where hard work makes anything possible. In America, the granddaughter of a baker from Mexico, raised by working-class parents, can become a U.S. Senator – the first Latina senator in our country’s history. And I’m determined to keep fighting so every family has the same chance to succeed.

But I'm only able to keep up this fight as long as grassroots supporters like you are with me, John. And the National Journal is now saying I’m the most vulnerable Democratic senator on the ballot this year, so I urgently need your support.
