As the cost of living crisis continues for households across the United Kingdom, the DUP has put forward local and national proposals that would see Government assist families struggling with spiralling bills.
On Monday Sir Jeffrey Donaldson wrote to the Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak with proposals for action that would have an immediate impact on fuel bills and on household incomes.
He called on the Government to immediately:
Cut VAT on home heating fuel
Postpone plans to remove the rebate on Red Diesel
Cancel the planned 1.25% increase in National Insurance contributions
Offer targeted support to those households most in need.
