John —
A quality public education is the foundation of a successful life, and one of the pillars that supports every strong economy. The investment we make in Michigan's public schools will determine the future of both our state and our children. If we support our schools, our teachers and our students, we can lead the way in creating the jobs of the future and attract good-paying jobs to Michigan.
But some people want to take us down a different path. Trump's Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has been pushing a far-right extremist agenda to privatize public schools. Betsy is a billionaire, and she and her family have gotten rich by exploiting children and transferring your tax dollars into their pockets: they run both for-profit schools that provide a poor education and debt collection companies that target the same children their schools prey on.
It's up to us to ensure Michigan moves in the right direction, and I hope you'll join me and education experts as we discuss how to strengthen our public education system and protect against threats from Trump and DeVos. Join us at our Town Hall to Protect Public Education, this Thursday, November 21st at 6:00 PM. We'll meet at the UAW Local 3000 hall (22692 Van Horn Road in Woodhaven).

We must work to protect and improve public education in Michigan, so that every child has a chance to succeed. And together, we'll send a message to Trump, Betsy DeVos and anyone who thinks they can steal public assets for private personal profit: our schools are not for sale, our children are not for sale, and we will never back down from the fight to provide an excellent public education to every student in Michigan.
Sincerely,
