On Tuesday, I had the privilege of hosting a group of enthusiastic, patriotic truckers who rightfully expressed their grievances with an American regime that punishes people that think for themselves. I was joined by Representatives Thomas Massie (KY-04) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14), as we productively discussed how things got to where they are today and the necessary steps to take in order to remedy this situation.

GAETZ VOTES 'NO' AS CONGRESS PASSES $1.5 TRILLION FEDERAL SPENDING BILL

While Americans are struggling to find the means to make ends meet, Congress continues to extract their means through reckless government spending. On Wednesday, I voted against the ‘Funding For the People’ omnibus appropriations package. Not only does this legislation cost the U.S. taxpayers far too much during a perilous time for the American economy, the mechanism used by the leadership in the Democratic Party to pass a 2,741 page bill is blatantly disrespectful to democracy and the legislative system enumerated by our Founders.

For one, rather than allowing meticulous and inclusive consideration of all 12 appropriation bills on their own merits, the Democrats have jammed them all into one vote – forcing many members in both parties into an ‘all or nothing’ situation. Furthermore, the Rule and legislative text of this massive bill became available to all members and their staff in the early hours of this morning, allowing less than 24 hours for us to analyze the bill text and determine the best voting position on behalf of our constituents. This is a complete disgrace to the House of Representatives as an institution.

Moreover, this bill increases federal nondefense spending to $730 billion, which is 6.7 percent over last year’s package, something the freedom loving, fiscally responsible citizens of America did not ask for. 13.6 billion in “additional humanitarian, security, and economic assistance for Ukraine and Central European partners,” is also included to attract congressional support for this spending package. Voting for a bill that will harm Americans in order to send taxpayer money to other countries is unacceptable.

This legislation currently exists in the face of last month’s reported 7.5% year-over-year Consumer Price Index increase. More inflation is not solved by more spending. The costs of this bill will have detrimental effects for all Americans by weakening the U.S. dollar during a time of international conflict and will expand the size and scope of the United States federal government.”

GAETZ VOTES TO KEEP GAS PRICES LOW IN THE USA

On Wednesday, I released the following statement:

As I travel today to America’s southern border, my fellow lawmakers in both parties are obsessed over 150,000 Russians moving on Ukraine. It’s about the same number of illegal aliens that move into our country. Monthly.

America is a friend to liberty everywhere but a custodian only of our own. Today the D.C. uni-party will vote to ban Russian energy imports. I will not join them. Biden’s plan to replace Russian oil with Venezuelan or Iranian oil is needlessly foolish. It will make Americans poorer and less safe. My compassion for Ukrainians won’t force my hand to hurt my own people.

Biden hates American energy so much he would open energy production in Venezuela and Iran before Colorado and North Dakota. America Last, for sure.

And while Russian oil is indeed stained with blood, so is Iran’s, and so is Venezuela’s.

Pensacola City Council has now joined  Crestview in expressing their legitimate concerns over Florida Power & Light's (FPL) dramatic energy bill increase for Northwest Floridians. While we eagerly wait for FPL's response, I am proud to see local government step-up and seek a resolution to these energy bills that immensely affect us all, especially during a time of economic turmoil in America.

In case you missed it, here is my interview with WEAR-3 last week, as I outline my role and Florida local government's role in impacting the FPL situation. I will be sure to continue following this and will be happy to update you when this price discrepancy is resolved!
