This is Annette Taddeo, Democrat and candidate for Governor of Florida.

Earlier this week, my Republican colleagues in the Florida State Senate passed the now infamous “Don’t Say Gay” bill, a piece of legislation that would expressly prohibit primary school teachers from discussing gender and sexual orientation.

I have to ask myself: What are we trying to fix? How does this bill help LGBTQ+ youth feel safe and supported?

It’s because of hateful and mean spirited legislation like this that I’m running for Governor, John. I simply cannot allow the state of Florida to become a breeding ground for bigotry and homophobia.

I have a message for the LGBT+ community: We see you. We hear you. You are loved. You are valued. You matter. And I will not stop until this state recognizes your value and worth.

Will you condemn this bill with me, John? We need as many passionate folks on our side to make a difference.
