keeping you up to date on all things Northeast Wisconsin The February NEWsflash Friend, Welcome back to the February edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of great stories from Northeast Wisconsin over the past month. This past month, my team and I had the honor of seeing Northeast Wisconsinites come together in a variety of ways to help make our community an even better place to live and raise a family. I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance. Semper Fi, Broadway Begins Again: This month, On Broadway, Inc. brought members of our community together to share its plans to revitalize downtown Green Bay. These plans include a revamped Leicht Park and new public market and are expected to draw more residents and consumers to downtown Green Bay. Grow As We Go: The launch of the Northeast Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship program was announced early last month. This crucial partnership between CESA 7, the Green Bay Chamber, Ahnapee Youth Apprenticeship, local universities, and businesses will provide another amazing option for students in Northeast Wisconsin looking to prepare themselves for the workforce. Care For Your Car: My staff also attended the grand opening of the Broadway Collision Center at the Ashland location. The center is over 100,000 square feet with an impressive 42 service bays. It's always great to see companies like this expanding right here in our community. Gathering to Grow: On February 17, farmers from around the district gathered to learn from each other about the challenges and successes of implementing conservation soil health practices. Some of the topics discussed were low disturbance manure injection, interseeding, and new cover crops. I'm glad that farmers have an opportunity to come together and share ways we can strengthen farms and protect our environment for years to come. LYNCing Communities with Education: My team was thrilled to join LYNC Academy for its ribbon cutting of their new facility in Green Bay. LYNC Academy helps students who struggle in a traditional school environment by providing social, emotional, and educational assistance. LYNC Academy will be yet another excellent resource for students and families in Northeast Wisconsin. Young Leaders: On February 17, Camden Chrudimsky was awarded the title of Eagle Scout. Camden has demonstrated real dedication to his community, which was on full display in his final Eagle Scout project where he created shelves for the library at St. John's. Join me in congratulating Camden on this accomplishment and wishing him the best in his future endeavors. State and Ag Collab: A member of my team attended Wisconsin Assemblyman Gary Tauchen's presentation on his initiative involving agriculture, carbon, energy, and water. It was great to see this conversation continued on how state government and local industries can work together to better the community. Conservation is Caring: My Save the Bay initiative kicked off 2022 with a round up to share each participant's successes, challenges, and strategies to expand conservation farming practices across the district. Healthy soils prevent topsoil and nutrients from entering waterways, fueling algal blooms and increasing the need for dredging. Growing and learning from each other will help us lead the nation in conservation farming. NEW Northern WI: My team was happy to join the Town of Lawrence as they hosted a monthly meeting of local municipalities to receive community updates and an update from NEW North on the work being done to promote businesses and recruit talent to our area. It's great to hear innovating ideas about advancing businesses in the district. Other events from Northeast Wisconsin last month: Here's how Wisconsin and beyond can help support Ukrainian people in need Vicky Lepak has served Kroll's famous butter burgers for 63 years Door County Medical Center designated a top critical access hospital Czech Republic commends Oconto man for his service there in World War II REMINDER: If you're experiencing issues with a federal agency, my office is here to help.
