Darkness is descending on the Sunshine State.
- Imagine it’s election season.
- You’re heading out to put your ballot in a drop box, and you swing by your parents’ house to pick up their ballots so they don’t have to drive.
- Or maybe you volunteered to take ballots from folks in your church to the elections office.
- Well, if you live in Florida, you’ve just committed a felony and could be facing five years in prison.
That’s because the Republican-dominated Florida legislature passed a bill this week that criminalizes commonplace (and commonsense) activities under the guise of fighting “voter fraud.”
The bill also creates an “election police force” under the direction of Florida’s Trumpier-than-Trump governor, Ron DeSantis.
DeSantis needs to hear from Americans — in Florida and all across the country — what we think of his anti-democratic nonsense.
Will we change his Trumpy mind? Probably not. Should we just bite our tongues and let him think we don’t know what he’s up to? Definitely not.
Tell Florida Governor Ron DeSantis:
We see through your “election fraud” charade. You want to make it harder to vote, especially for people of color. You want to appeal to Donald Trump and his MAGA adherents. And you want to unfairly and undemocratically distort elections in favor of Republicans — including yourself. The American people and our democracy deserve better than you.
Add your name now.
Thank you for taking action.
