Friend,
We've come a long way since the pandemic started, and some of us even feel normal again. People receiving assistance from VOA centers and programs want “normal” in the worst way. They’ve been coming to us in increased numbers (many who never dreamed they would be needing such help.) Our response has had to remain constant, delivering more essential services than before.
Thanks to our compassionate network of VOA supporters, more relief, more services, and more hope has been delivered than we could have imagined in past months!
Fight hunger and homelessness with your support. Donate now.
There’s power in compassion, just ask Joyce.
“I could barely walk I was so cold.”
Joyce was homeless and living on the streets after losing her house last November. One brutally cold night, after walking the streets for six straight hours, at risk of deadly hypothermia, Joyce found VOA's Ruth’s Place, our emergency 24/7 shelter for women in Northeastern PA.
Receiving hot meals, a warm bed, and support from the VOA staff, Joyce restored her health and her sense of purpose. She was deeply grateful, and resolute to take important steps for herself and for others. Joyce plans to return as a volunteer with the shelter.
“I want to be here because ... it saved my life.”
Our work never stops, and we won’t stop, while people like Joyce need help.
Right now, VOA staff are responding to surges in feeding and sheltering needs. Rising prices and the strained economy have forced more families to seek help.
Your gift of $50 or $100 will go far—Even $10, or whatever you can afford, will help to get relief and essentials service for women, families and children in crisis in your area.
Can I count on you?
Gratefully,
Mike King, President & CEO Volunteers of America
