Ukraine and her people are under attack from Vladimir Putin. We’ve all seen the horrifying news coverage as refugees flee their homes for safety, only to be attacked by Russian forces on their way. The violence and suffering Russia is inflicting on Ukraine is unthinkable.

But Ukrainian people have displayed incredible bravery and resolve in the face of this violence against civilians. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has been a strong leader and continues to fight alongside his constituents.

It’s clear which side of history is the right side, and I stand with Ukraine.

But as we know, elected Republicans in the United States have a tendency to stand on the wrong side of history — and many are making no exception in the case of the war in Ukraine.

For example, GOP darling, Rep. Madison Cawthorn recently called President Zelenskyy a “thug”, and stated that the Ukrainian government is “evil and has been pushing woke ideologies.”

I don’t know what planet he’s living on, but let’s set the record straight: Putin is the thug in this war.

Cawthorn said out loud what many Republicans have been whispering since the start of this invasion: they side with Putin, who reminds them of their leader, Donald Trump.

Putin is bombing maternity wards and children’s hospitals. To utter the vile and ignorant sentiments that Madison Cawthorn spoke into a microphone is completely un-American.

We must keep Republicans like Madison Cawthorn out of the House majority and protect the power of the purse. Will you rush a contribution to condemn these remarks by Madison Cawthorn and protect our foreign policy from these un-American Republicans?

Time and again, the GOP demonstrates that its values are in direct opposition to those of the American people. With your support, Democrats will protect and expand our House majority and keep GOP loud mouths like Madison Cawthorn in line.
