Everyone,

Earlier this morning, I sent the following email to state lawmakers around the country who are interested in starting a state freedom caucus. The purpose of the email was to show them an example of how one of our state freedom caucus’s is succeeding at killing bad policy.

Please read it. And if you want to help us succeed as we launch more state freedom caucuses across the country, please consider making a donation.

Everyone,

You’re receiving this email because you are a state lawmaker who’s in a state freedom caucus, in the process of being part of a newly-created state freedom caucus, or you’re interested in learning more about it.

The reason I’m writing today is to show you how effective a state freedom caucus can be in your state.

Recently, Kevin and Laura Baigert reached out to me from Tennessee. The Baigerts are great Americans who follow their state legislature and call out their representatives if they are supporting Leftist, big government policies. Laura alerted me to the fact that the Tennessee legislature was considering an insidious bill (HB 1989) that would create an interstate compact between their state, Arkansas, and Mississippi.

I immediately reached out to Steven Utroska, our stellar executive director in Mississippi to have him investigate it. Sure enough, a liberal Republican state senator named David Parker had offered the exact same bill that would bless the interstate compact from Mississippi’s perspective (SB 2716).

In effect, if this bill became law, this compact would create a quasi-governmental commission to hand out corporate welfare (i.e. cronyism) in the various counties along the borders of these three states – basically the greater Memphis area.

Part of the money would be funded by your tax dollars through Biden’s infrastructure bill. And the people behind this idea are associated with the Soros-funded Urban Land Institute. That’s bad enough, but the board would also have the authority to issue taxes, issue bonds, and even use eminent domain to take your home. All without any oversight or accountability.

There’s no chance that such a bill could possibly pass into law, right? Well, the Mississippi State Senate passed it unanimously, 51-0 ([link removed]) .

Thankfully, the Mississippi Freedom Caucus Chairman, State Rep. Steve Hopkins, went to work to kill the bill on the House side. First, he informed his conservative Senate colleagues that Parker duped them into supporting it. Next, the Caucus notified the state Farm Bureau and alerted them to the abusive eminent domain provision, which promptly motivated them to oppose the bill.

Finally, and this is the best part, Hopkins went on the Glenn Beck radio show and warned ([link removed]) the entire country about what was happening.

All of that hard work paid off.

On Tuesday, the Mississippi House declared that the bill was dead on arrival. And thanks largely to the Baigerts, the bill died ([link removed]) in Tennessee too.

This is how we win.

We now have the playbook. We form, mobilize, and activate freedom caucuses across the country and then encourage them to loudly fight against big government. And we know we're winning because it’s driving the GOP establishment nuts! A local mayor who supported SB 2716’s cronyism is whining about how the Mississippi Freedom Caucus is a "a radical right extremist organization”. And this mayor calls himself a “Republican". Feel free to retweet this ([link removed]) if you disagree.
Because Biden’s infrastructure bill encourages these kinds of crony compacts, I encourage each one of you to scour the bills in your state to see if special interest groups have introduced a similar proposal. If so, let us know and we’ll help you fight it.

So far we have freedom caucuses in Georgia and the aforementioned Mississippi. We anticipate another handful coming online shortly, with about 10-15 caucuses up and running this year. We hope you can be a part of that. You’ll be joining of an exciting revolution to take back our country. Please reach out to me if you haven’t already.

Best,
