Friends,
The climate crisis is at our door step, yet there are still two proposed fossil fuel pipeline projects coming to Virginia. They’re waiting on key permits that Governor Northam has the power to stop. Last month one received a federal rubber-stamp approval, and the other may not be far behind.
Today we are flooding Governor Northam’s office with calls so he hears us loud and clear: Fracked gas pipelines are NOT the future.
CALL 1-888-498-2945 and urge Northam to prioritize Virginia’s future over fossil fuel pipelines. Tell him to oppose the Mountain Valley Pipeline Southgate Extension and the Transco Southeastern Trail Expansion!
Here’s your call script:
Hi, my name is [Jane Doe] and I live in [Virginia city/county]. I’m calling today to urge Governor Northam to oppose and reject state permits for the Mountain Valley Pipeline Southgate Extension and the Transcontinental Southeastern Trail Expansion Project. As a Virginia resident, I am extremely concerned about our state’s buildout of fossil fuel infrastructure because projects like these put people at risk for dangerous leaks, explosions, and spills and contribute to the climate crisis. Governor Northam needs to put a stop to Transco and Mountain Valley Pipeline Southgate immediately. Thank you.
We have only 11 years to drastically shift our energy grid to run on clean renewable energy before climate change’s impacts will be irreversible. Science tells us we have no time to waste and allowing any more pipelines can derail our chances of avoiding climate disaster.
CALL 1-888-498-2945 TODAY to make sure every minute of these 11 years counts.
Standing with you,
Julie
