Team, we set a goal earlier in the week to raise 1,000 contributions to respond to Ilhan’s new primary opponent jumping into the race — and with just hours to go until our deadline, we’re still 107 donations short.
Here’s why it’s so important we reach our goal tonight to prepare for the competitive primary ahead:
- We need to be ready to respond to any attacks that come our way. In 2020, Ilhan’s challenger and ultraconservative groups poured millions of dollars into Minnesota’s 5th District to unseat Ilhan and stop our progressive movement’s work to cancel student debt, pass Medicare for All, and guarantee housing for all.
- Ilhan’s opponent represents the status quo we’re working so hard to disrupt, and we have enough of that in Congress. Ilhan proudly supported efforts last fall to establish a public safety system in Minneapolis rooted in humanity, compassion, and true justice — but her opponent led the charge to defeat the ballot amendment and could oppose similar, much needed measures at the federal level.
- We’re counting on a strong foundation of resources to power our organizing efforts. From calling hundreds of thousands of voters, to knocking doors all across the district, all to help build support to secure the Democratic nomination for Ilhan, and ensure Democrats win up and down the ballot, we’ll be running on all cylinders in the coming weeks and months.
So, before midnight, will you chip in any amount you can to help Ilhan defeat our conservative Democrat challenger and continue our movement’s work for economic, environmental, racial, and social justice for all?
