Hi John,

It’s two years ago today that Covid-19 was declared a global pandemic.

For more than half that time, life-saving vaccines have been available, yet one in three people around the world still haven’t had a single dose.

Today is a global day of action against vaccine inequality, so we’ve put together 5 things you can do to help the campaign.

1. Watch our video message to Boris Johnson

This week we delivered over 130,000 signatures to Downing Street with UK partners calling for a suspension of patents on Covid-19 vaccines. Watch and share our new video featuring Winnie Byanyima of UN Aids.

2. Demand a People’s Vaccine

With over 100 countries supporting a patent waiver on Covid vaccines at the WTO, it’s the UK, the EU and Switzerland who continue to hold out. Take a moment today to tweet Boris Johnson to remind him we’re not going away – and sign the petition if you haven’t already.

3. Join our Decolonising Vaccines speaker tour

We’re really excited about our Decolonise Vaccines speaker tour which starts on Monday. Join us to discuss how we can support the global south in fighting back against vaccine apartheid, and transforming the power relations of global health:

You can also read our interview with Fatima Hassan from Health Justice Initiative in South Africa, our lead speaker in week 1, from the latest issue of our supporter magazine, Ninety-Nine.

4. Read today’s statement from 100 public figures

Also today more than 100 public figures from the president of Tanzania to Charlize Theron, Harry and Meghan to Gordon Brown, have called on world leaders to take action to end vaccine inequality.

Read the letter, the coverage in the Guardian and Washington Post, and share it on Facebook or Twitter.

5. Follow the actions from around the world

The People’s Vaccine Alliance has already been busy today around the world. You can follow the pictures as they come in on this Twitter thread.

Thanks for taking action as part of the global day of action – and for you for everything you do.

Best wishes,
Jonathan Stevenson,

Help ensure Covid-19 vaccines are available to everyone, everywhere

It’s vitally important that Covid-19 vaccine patents are suspended during the pandemic, and for big pharma to share their know-how globally, as the best way of ensuring there are enough vaccines for everyone everywhere.

Regular gifts give us the long-term stability to plan effective campaigns and the flexibility to respond to crises like these.
