I am delighted the People’s Vote campaign is endorsing me as the best placed pro-People’s Vote candidate to win in Kensington. A new, independent official poll published last night clearly shows the race in Kensington is between a hard Brexiter Conservative candidate or me, someone who put my career on the line in support of a People's Vote. 

With the endorsement of the People’s Vote campaign, and your help, we can win Kensington and I can continue our fight in Parliament to give the people a say.

This election is about much more than politics as usual. It is about our values, our prosperity and the kind of future we want to build.

I was Government Minister for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation and on the front bench for seven years. But I resigned from Government to campaign for a People’s Vote and to stop No Deal. And when I had the Conservative whip withdrawn because I opposed Boris Johnson’s efforts to force a damaging No Deal on us all, I joined the Liberal Democrats - the party that’s been the loudest champion for a People’s Vote.

This latest poll shows that I am the only pro-People’s Vote candidate who can beat Boris Johnson’s hard Brexit Conservative candidate.


Nearly 70% of people voted for Remain in Kensington in 2016. What last night’s polls show is that if enough of them vote tactically for me, we can elect a pro-People’s Vote MP in Kensington and help defeat Boris Johnson. If they don’t vote tactically, then Johnson’s candidate would win by default. We are in the race and we can win, but I need your help.

The truth is that we can’t defeat Boris Johnson by just sharing endorsements on social media or writing campaign emails. We’ll only win seats like Kensington by knocking on tens of thousands of doors.

That’s why my campaign and the People’s Vote campaign are teaming up at Wednesday 3pm, at Ladbroke Grove Station, for a canvassing session.
