Hi there,
I wanted to check in to see if you were able to read my team's important email from Tuesday.
It's about calling on the Senate to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act – and I want to make sure we get as many eyes on it as possible.
Here's the link in case you missed it. I'd appreciate it if you added your name: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/2203_email_delgado_vawa/?source=em22_220311_VAWA2
My colleagues and I just passed the funding for VAWA's reauthorization through the House, but its fate lies on the Senate's shoulders. We have the opportunity to bring back the resources many domestic violence survivors have been without for far too long.
The Senate must reauthorize VAWA to ensure more Americans can remain safe in their homes, communities, and relationships. Read the email from my team below, and
please sign onto our petition demanding the Senate to act immediately to fund important resources like therapy, safe housing, and much more.
In solidarity,
Antonio

Subject: Clock is ticking on VAWA ⏰
Team,
There is no point in which we should not be discussing domestic violence and how to make survivors' lives better. Domestic violence survivors deserve our compassion, dedication, and open ears to listen to their stories.
Since
1994, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) has protected countless survivors of domestic violence. President Obama was the last to reauthorize VAWA in
2013 and allocate money to survivors' services so that survivors of violence could access everything from therapy to safe housing.
But guess what? In
2019, the Senate allowed VAWA to expire – and since then, survivors have been largely cut off from these critical resources and means of support.
The Senate needs to take action. If they don't, survivors will continue to suffer, and many in silence or alone.
We must do more as a country to provide resources and support victims of domestic violence. Will you please join us by adding your name to the petition demanding the Senate reauthorize VAWA immediately?
Here's the thing: Domestic violence has no political party affiliation.
It doesn't prefer red over blue. It doesn't care about where you're from, how old you are, how you identify, or about your socioeconomic status.
It's an issue that affects us all.
That's why it's important we band together to educate people, advocate for survivors, listen to stories, and most importantly, provide ample resources and support for domestic violence victims.
If one thing's for sure, it's that VAWA should have never expired. It should have been reauthorized, advanced, and strengthened.
The Senate must act immediately. Please sign our petition today in support of survivors across the country and demand that the Senate renew the Violence Against Women Act.
Thank you,
Team Delgado
