The gun violence epidemic in our country is a public health crisis. Far too many families have experienced unfathomable losses at the hands of gun violence time and time again, and it's past time for policy and action to end the gun violence epidemic.

One year ago today, Chris joined his colleagues in the House to take action on gun violence reform by passing H.R. 8, a bipartisan common-sense background checks bill. H.R. 8 would expand background checks and close loopholes in our gun laws to keep people safe. Now an entire year later, the Senate still hasn't taken up this life-saving legislation for a vote.

Surveys have shown that over 90% of Americans support common-sense background checks, but Senate Republicans are still blocking critical reform. Gun violence is preventable, and we can always do more to prevent guns from getting into the wrong hands.
