Friend -- today marks the mid-way point of the current fundraising quarter, so I wanted to send you an update on our progress so far.
To be honest, we're still short of where we need to be at this point of the month. Yes, we set a very ambitious goal. But the reality is we had to:
My opponent David Valadao has avoided virtually all public appearances, interviews, and constituent meetings in favor of high-dollar fundraisers with big donors. The last event we caught wind of was a fundraiser in Washington D.C. hosted by his top ally in the House -- Rep. Devin Nunes.
I don't think that's a winning strategy, but the fact is, Valadao still out-raised us last quarter. We can't allow that to happen again.
I'm depending on individual donors like you to keep pace with Valadao's corporate donors. Can I count on you to make a $3 donation today to help close the gap?

Out-raising Valadao with grassroots support is about sending a message that we can work on the issues that matter for our community -- health care, clean water, immigration reform -- while still running a winning campaign. I'll never put corporate donors over voters in my district, and your support helps me prove that it's possible.
So can I count on you, friend? Please chip in $3 today.
