Climate change is one of the most significant challenges of our time. Not only has it destroyed land and communities and displaced millions of people from their homes and livelihoods, but it has devastated the social fabric of people’s lives. These disruptions of governments, lives, and families have weakened the already fragile protections of those who become hungry and homeless and made them more vulnerable to becoming victims of human trafficking. Women and girls are at particular risk of exploitation.

Our upcoming panel and United Nations Commission on the Status of Women parallel event will discuss how to create structures from the ground up that build long-term resilience in vulnerable populations to prevent trafficking.
