The Florida state legislature just passed a hateful bill – referred to as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill — that will cause harm towards the LGBTQIA+ community.
This bill is a stain on our country’s history. It can be easy to dismiss such hateful legislation as a remnant of a bygone era — but that would be a disastrous mistake. Because this bill is happening here, in the United States of America, in the year 2022.
It is more urgent now than ever before for the Senate to pass the Equality Act, which would prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
Ro and his colleagues in the House passed the Equality Act over a year ago. Since then, it’s been gathering dust in the Senate.
We know that if the Senate passes the Equality Act, President Biden will sign it into law. We must put pressure on the Senate to finally pass these vital protections, so that no one in this country can be legally discriminated against because of their gender, sex, or sexual orientation — like what’s happening in Florida.
Thank you for using your voice on this important issue.
