Friends,
Ukraine is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis as innocent civilians continue to be killed and displaced due to the Russian invasion.
This morning, video footage was released showing Congressman Madison Cawthorn ranting at a town hall event in Asheville, calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “a thug” and his country “incredibly evil.” Once again, Cawthorn is showing all the signs of a young man who has been radicalized.
We want to be clear: Cawthorn’s inflammatory and anti-democratic statements don’t represent who we are in Western North Carolina, or America.
WNC is home to more than 2,000 Ukrainians, and we need to show our neighbors that we stand with them and their families during this frightening time.
These are four organizations doing life-saving work and we’re asking you to consider sending a donation to support their efforts:
- Razom for Ukraine is collecting donations for its emergency response project to provide medical supplies, humanitarian aid and support volunteers on the ground.
- The International Rescue Committee is dedicated to providing aid to displaced families and is soliciting financial support to distribute resources.
- Global Giving has started a relief fund to provide food, water, and shelter for Ukrainian refugees.
- Doctors without Borders continues to provide medical care to those impacted by the ongoing conflict.
Please consider making a donation – whatever you can – and keep the Ukrainian people in your thoughts and prayers.
– Team Jasmine
