Dear friend,

Head to head with Donald Trump’s handpicked candidate for governor, Chris Doughty fears that his anti-choice, pro-Trump past may not be enough to get him through a Republican primary — so he’s moving farther to the right by the day.

Last week, Doughty announced a running mate with a far-right record. He tapped Kate Campanale, a former state representative with an anti-LGBTQ+, anti-worker, anti-safety reputation.

With the Republican primary turning into a litmus test for extremist Republicans, will you chip-in $5, $10, $25, or however much you can to elect a Democratic governor and lieutenant governor this November?

Here’s what you need to know about Campanale’s extreme right-wing record. In 2017, Campanale used the GOP’s transphobic talking points to justify denying trans people their civil rights. Soon after, she was one of just 14 legislators who voted against a ban on conversion therapy, a discredited practice that causes serious harm to LGBTQ+ people.

Campanale opposed protecting workers from wage theft and voted against paid sick leave. Even after mass shootings in San Bernardino and Orlando, she opposed the enforcement of strong gun laws designed to protect public safety. And since leaving the Massachusetts House, Campanale has strengthened her ties with a conservative activist group that pushes harmful abortion bans.

As the only Republican in the race for lieutenant governor, there’s a good chance we'll be going up against Campanale this November. If you can, chip in today to fund the Democratic ticket and keep Republicans like Campanale out of office in 2022.
