John,

Growing up, my parents instilled in us the value of hard work and serving your community. My father served in the military, so we moved around a lot when I was a kid, which meant I saw firsthand what makes communities work.

It was my experience growing up that made choosing Kansas a no-brainer when it came time for my husband and I to choose where we wanted to raise our children. The schools were second to none, the communities were tight-knit, and the economy was growing.

But as we settled in as a young family and my daughters grew, I saw the struggles everyday Kansans were facing, and I knew I needed to do something. So, I ran for the state Senate -- and won. I spent nearly 15 years fighting for Kansas' families in the state legislature.

When I saw the destruction Sam Brownback's administration brought to our state -- defunded schools, crumbling infrastructure, a struggling economy, and a tax plan that hurt our middle class -- I knew I had to act. So, I announced my candidacy for governor in 2018.

People said it wouldn't be possible to defeat Kris Kobach and slam the door on the last eight years of failed leadership, but we proved them wrong. The people of Kansas spoke when they elected me governor of Kansas, and together, we've accomplished so much.

But here's the thing, my re-election campaign won't be easy. We're up against a fully funded extreme Republican opponent who, if elected, would bring back the failed policies of the Brownback era. We cannot let that happen.

This grassroots team was critical to my victory in 2018, but I won't be able to win again in November without your continued support. Will you chip in whatever you can to help us continue work for Kansas' future?
