Oil drilling ? Lower Gas Prices? ? ? ? Friend ?
Big Oil and its allies are putting enormous pressure on federal agencies ? pointing to current prices at the pump as an excuse ? to drill even more. Drilling for more oil will do nothing to bring down gas costs for the foreseeable future.
??
One of Trump?s dirtiest deals is at the top of their drilling wishlist. Before leaving office, Trump administration officials rushed through permits for their friends at ConocoPhillips to begin their destruction of the Arctic. The project, dubbed Willow, would lock in three more decades of massive fossil fuel production ? adding an estimated 250 million metric tons of CO2 to the atmosphere (equal to emissions from 66 new coal- fired power plants) at a time when we need to be cutting, not compounding, climate pollution.
?
If that wasn?t enough, the Willow project is endangering nearby Indigenous communities and the fragile Arctic ecosystems they rely on for their way of life.
To call this a climate disaster is an understatement.?
We must stop this devastation in its tracks and protect the Western Arctic, and we need your help today. Families in need of relief from higher costs are being lied to by Big Oil: doubling down on fossil fuels will not actually lower gas prices. Fossil fuels are connected to a global market influenced by worldwide supply, demand, and unpredictable events, not a few new leases and drilling permits in the U.S. We can't drill our way out of high gas prices, and we can?t afford to add fuel to the fire of climate change.
Please make a gift of just $5 or more right now to help power our campaigns to protect the Arctic and demand that our leaders take real climate action and advance real solutions - clean energy solutions - to our energy woes ? and go toe-to-toe against lobbyists bought by Big Oil. . [link removed]
The science couldn?t be more clear: our climate cannot afford three more decades of unfettered oil and gas production. The Willow mega-project would set us backward on a dangerous path, paving the way for more oil drilling and climate pollution and compromising the sensitive ecosystem of the Western Arctic ? while doing nothing to stop today?s or tomorrow?s rising gas prices.?
The Biden administration has the power to stop massive fossil fuel development from destroying this critical region. Now is the time to make our voices heard and to tell the federal government, once and for all, that more drilling for oil and gas is not the answer.?
Friend, will you make a donation now to help power LCV?s campaign to protect the Arctic and secure climate action and a clean energy future? Even $5 can help. [link removed]
There?s no time to wait ? the Department of the Interior will be issuing its decision soon. Together, I know that we can push back on Big Oil?s greed and lies and protect our planet.
