Putin is a delusional dictator and war criminal. Russia no longer has the credibility necessary to carry out its duties as a member of the United Nations Security Council. Putin’s invasion of sovereign territory, unprovoked, displays to the entire world just how delusional he is, and to what extremes he will go to flex his military capabilities. We must send a stronger message to the world. We must show greater fortitude and strength. There’s no getting around the signal we’ve sent to the rest of the world. The way we handled the withdrawal from Afghanistan was an absolute debacle and embarrassment on the world stage. And it sent a signal to people like Vladimir Putin in Moscow. And President Xi in Beijing. And others around the world like Iran. People that wish us ill. It sent a signal of weakness that we cannot handle our own responsibilities. So it is no surprise that Vladamir Putin decided to test us and our allies with this war in Ukraine. We must punish Russia for its actions and do all we can to shield Ukraine.
