John,
The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has released a new report on the devastating impact of an increasingly warmer world — and called out the climate change deniers spreading misinformation.
As turbulent weather events across the globe drive home the effects of climate warming, the report estimates that approximately 40% of the world’s population is “highly vulnerable” to climate change.
But efforts by scientists, environmentalists, and elected officials are being hampered by a cascade of deliberate misinformation from right-wing commentators trying to further a political agenda. Tactics like downplaying the effects of climate change, big oil greenwashing their contributions towards global warming, or propelling the notion that climate change is a hoax have undoubtedly stalled our ability to take meaningful action.
The IPCC report considers the spread of misinformation deeply damaging as the window of opportunity to prevent the worst impacts of climate change rapidly closes. The report’s authors calculate that we need to break the cycle this decade or we will run out of time to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.
John, SEEC members will continue to lead the fight to make sure people know the trust. SEEC members are focused on combatting climate change and following the science to create a sustainable future.
We need more SEEC members in Congress to counter right-wing propaganda and misinformation. Will you donate today to help? [[link removed]]

It is hard to fathom that there are still those adamantly denying the existential threat of our time.
But these climate change deniers are only interested in pushing an agenda that rewards Big Energy while tapping into fear of science and research.
John, SEEC members are working around the clock to overcome the deluge of misinformation from the right-wing on climate change. But they urgently need your help. Can you pitch in today? [[link removed]]
