John,
EDF is about to dump hundreds of thousands of tonnes of
nuclear-contaminated “mud” into a marine reserve in the Severn Estuary –
and let it wash up on beaches along the coast.
But we can stop them!
Courageous grassroots conservationists have just won permission to
challenge the plan in court. If they win, EDF will be forced to ditch its
toxic scheme, protecting hundreds of thousands of local residents and a
crucial breeding ground for fish – including protected species and the
endangered European Eel.
But the court date is this week, and the heroes at Save the Severn don’t
yet have the cash to pay their legal team.
That’s why they’re asking for your help. If we all chip in, we can make
sure they have the best expert help to defeat this nightmare – and show
companies everywhere they can’t just dump toxic waste where they want. Are
you in?

We don’t have much time. Thousands of tonnes of contaminated sediment is
already lined up. Tests show it's laced with both chemical and nuclear
industrial pollutants.
EDF already tipped mud from near Hinkley into waters near Cardiff in 2018
– and now Welsh beaches are showing increased radioactivity. We can’t
allow this to keep happening.
The heroic team at Save the Severn has one shot at stopping this. With
your help, we can ensure this contaminated sludge is kept out of our
protected Severn Estuary – overturning EDF’s permit in court and making
clear people won’t stand for this kind of corporate bullying. Anything
extra we raise will be used for other campaigns to fight polluting
companies like EDF in the UK and around the world.

It’s an age old story – mega corporations, backed by craven governments,
abuse their power to dump toxic pollutants into rivers and on innocent
communities. But when people fight back, they can win amazing victories –
protecting their homes for generations to come. Let’s make this happen
here!
Thanks for all that you do,
Olivia and the team at SumOfUs
