Cargo thefts dropped 26% year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2021, with most thieves concentrated in California, Florida and Texas and mainly stealing goods from parking lots and truck stops, according to CargoNet. However, theft remains an ongoing risk, especially in Southern California, where goods are vulnerable due to supply chain backlogs, according to Ron Greene, vice president of business development at Overhaul.
