Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) released the following statement on the "Suspending Energy Imports from Russia Act:"

"There is no way I could vote to exchange getting oil from Putin for getting oil from some other tyrant or country that wants to destroy America, which makes this a cynical political ploy. Until Democrats allow a vote that will help make America energy independent again, those of us who care about Americans on fixed income and Americans who are being bankrupted by Democrats war on cheap energy must vote NO on Democrats’ 'Suspending Energy Imports from Russia Act.'

President Biden's outrageously calloused original decision on his first day to make America and Europe dependent on Russia, Iran and Venezuela for oil while he chases a green new nightmare has made the world dangerous for democracy while funding those who will end our freedom.

Americans facing economic hardships now will suffer immeasurably more as Democrats agree to deals with the devil to make the world’s thugs and tyrants rich. Though apparently Biden family members have been made wealthy by America’s enemies, it is time to put Americans’ best interests first for a change. It is time to make America energy independent again, and stop the war on American seniors, Americans on fixed incomes, and those that have to keep maxing out their credit cards to buy gas just to get to work.

We’ve heard enough of the Biden administration lectures that Americans should eat cake in their brand new expensive electric cars. People can’t afford a tank of gas, much less tens of thousands of dollars for a new electric car."
