Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has had an exceptional career and has seen all sides of the justice system up close - as a federal judge, a public defender, and with family in law enforcement. A daughter of two public school teachers and administrators, Judge Jackson rose through our justice system from a public defender to a federal appellate judge. Her extraordinary qualifications also include serving as a Justice Breyer’s law clerk and being nominated by President Obama to serve as the Vice Chair of the U.S. Sentencing Commission.

She was confirmed 3 times with bipartisan support by the U.S. Senate - even Republicans like Paul Ryan have praised her intellect and said her integrity is unequivocal.

In addition to her robust experience, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is now the first Black woman nominated to the highest court in the land. This is a huge and important moment, John! Since the creation of the Supreme Court in 1789, America has had 115 Justices – and only seven of them have been women or people of color. Josh believes having a diverse Supreme Court is crucial to promoting a justice system that serves everyone in our country.
