John, it’s been another fantastic week for the
Liberal Democrats on the campaign trail!
With less than four
weeks to go until polling day, here are our best moments from this
week.
Our Plan For Equalities, Civil
Liberties and Human Rights
The Liberal Democrats have always opposed
discrimination and fought for human rights and civil liberties.
So this week we announced our manifesto commitments on
rights and equalities. This will be our foundation for
building a society where dignity, privacy, and equality are
fundamental.
That’s not all - this week we’ve announced policies
on the climate crisis, flood defences, childcare, lifelong learning,
youth services, immigration and more!
And there are plenty more fantastic policies which
we will announce at our manifesto
launch next week.
A Poppin’ Rally 🍿
We went to the wonderful Battersea Arts Centre for
the biggest event of the campaign so far.
It was a
great event for all the family! There was popcorn, glow
sticks, instagram frames, and a giant blow-up ball to keep children -
as well as big kids! - entertained.
The event was opened in style by our candidate in
Bethnal Green and Bow, Josh Babarinde. We then heard inspiring
speeches from Layla Moran, and of course our leader Jo Swinson.
And for the first time, we showed supporters our fantastic
2019 Party Election Broadcast!
This broadcast
will be watched by millions of voters over the course of the
campaign.
#DebateHer:
The BBC and ITV are planning to hold debates that
only include Jeremy Corbyn and Boris Johnson.
We know the
country deserves to hear from more than just two Leavers.
No one on that debate stage is standing up for over 16
million Remainers. That’s why we’re calling for Jo to be
included, and why we're taking ITV to court over their attempt to
exclude her.
If you agree with us that Corbyn and
Johnson should stop running away, and #DebateHer, please sign the
petition below!
She’s Pulling no Punches
Our heavy-hitting leader visited the Total Boxer
gym in North London on Wednesday.
Total Boxer offers training
to young people to combat gang culture.
Jo’s visit was
widely covered by the press, who reported on her throwing her hat into
the ring as a potential Prime Minister.
And she
showed her ability to roll with the punches when she donned her bright
yellow Lib Dem boxing gloves!
Are you in our corner?
We’re looking to leave Jeremy Corbyn and Boris
Johnson down for the count in this election.
Will you
let us know that you’re in our corner?
We’re really hitting our stride in this campaign.
Thanks for being in the fight with us. Seconds out - week
three!
