Yesterday, [the U.S. Senate passed the Postal Service Reform Act]([link removed]), which includes $107 billion for much-needed improvements to the U.S. Postal Service.

The COVID-19 pandemic has only served to highlight just how critical the Postal Service is for our democracy. In fact, you may remember that [we sued USPS in 2020]([link removed]) to help make sure mail ballots and voter registration forms were delivered on time—and they were!

Voter registration, voting by mail, and the delivery of your "please vote!" letters to boost voter turnout hinge on a fully functional Postal Service. Mail delays and inconsistencies jeopardize the ability for voters—especially those in rural communities—to make their voices heard through voting. There’s more that needs to be done, but this new investment in modernizing the Postal Service is a promising step forward to maintain an efficient mail system and support a representative democracy.
