John,
Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine has highlighted the very real fact that authoritarian forces are on the rise and that democracy is under attack across the globe.
And as the U.S. government mobilizes to support Ukraine, it’s important for our elected leaders to remember that we must also defend democracy here at home.
The threats to our democracy are growing: state legislators across the country are stripping power away from local election officials and placing it in the hands of partisan politicians; threats are being made against election workers and their families; and candidates are running for every level of office who refuse to acknowledge who won the 2020 presidential election and continue to spread election disinformation.
Take Action: We must save democracy both abroad AND here at home.
To be credible and effectively stand against authoritarian advances globally, U.S. leaders must push back on those within our own borders that seek to divide and subvert the democratic will of the American people.
It’s time for Congress to work across the aisle and pass reforms that will strengthen our elections, protect election officials and poll workers, prevent election sabotage, and ensure the peaceful transfer of power in 2025 and beyond.
Tell Congress to strengthen our democracy!
Your voice makes a difference,
