Friend, Shortly before President Biden even called for an end to mask mandates in his State of the Union Address, the White House dropped its mask requirements. This came one day after Democrats in Congress dropped their mask mandate. For those keeping score at home, this makes roughly the thousandth flip-flop from Biden regarding COVID policy. But this turn reveals something more damning - that keeping the mask mandates was never about public safety. As the mandates have become more and more unpopular, Democrats are changing their tune, as we saw at the State of the Union. Nothing has changed recently, except polling data. The only reason I can think of that Biden and his allies in Congress would have kept pushing for masks is that as devoted progressives, they just like telling people what to do.
