As Co-Chair of the Congressional Steel Caucus, I’ve fought hard to include strong and expanded Buy America requirements in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which directly supports the Northwest Indiana steel industry and American manufacturing workers.

I appreciate that President Biden is building on this momentum by issuing an executive order this month to further ensure that federal dollars go to purchasing “Made in America” goods.

Currently, the federal government spends about $600 billion each year on a wide range of products. Under the new order, a “Made in America” product will receive federal government purchasing preference if at least 75 percent of its parts are American-made.

American taxpayer dollars must be used to support American workers.

Friends, families in the 1st Congressional District of Indiana and across our nation are benefitting from these actions to grow our economy and support the dignity of American workers.
