Fulfillment Fund

March 2022 Newsletter

March is a month that begets anticipation, especially for high school students, because with March comes the promise of change. Our College Counselors are working with 11th graders who are preparing to apply for college next year, while our seniors are waiting with bated breath for one thing: college acceptance letters.

This time of anticipation can be both exhilarating and exhausting for students. The thrill of having given your all and seeing your academic legacy on paper can bring up feelings of accomplishment as well as burnout. We must surround and uplift our students who worked so hard to complete their college applications with love, empathy, and much-needed support as they wait to hear from their desired universities.

Meanwhile, Fulfillment Fund college students are thinking about how they will spend their summers as new and exclusive internship opportunities are made possible through our committed partners like Capital Group, Elephant, Zenith Media, and more. Our College Success team is preparing for our annual scholarship review, along with Fulfillment Fund committee members and volunteers.

Like our students, Fulfillment Fund has been busy during these two short months. We received over 300 applications for the Kenny Washington Memorial Scholarship. The 13 recipients of this scholarship will be awarded by its sponsors, the LA Rams, at our spring event, Sip & Celebrate. We’re excited to share some changes and updates to our first in-person gathering — and, we have a feeling, you might be too!
