John,

We have a new and exciting endorsement to share! His name is Brian Bush, and he’s running to be Chattanooga’s next City Court Judge. Here’s why this is such a big deal:

When most people hear “law enforcement” they think of cops, detectives, and correctional officers.

But positions like a City Court Judge are completely overlooked — and it’s a problem.

These are the people responsible for virtually all minor infractions in a given town or city. Parking tickets, juvenile offenses, loitering charges, and more. It’s a tremendous amount of power with very little oversight.

When put in the wrong hands, this authority is used to punish working families — especially Black and brown communities — where a $100 parking ticket can be debilitating for those living paycheck to paycheck.

But in the right hands, a City Court Judge can make decisions that impact hundreds if not thousands of misdemeanor cases in the city, and can approach other minor offenses with a compassionate and rehabilitating lens, rather than a punitive one.

Brian’s election is on May 3rd, and we have an opportunity right now to give him a boost. The support available for these kinds of campaigns is often small, and often fly under the radar. But it’s a seat that he can absolutely win.

Brian’s vision for City Court is centered on improving the lives of all Chattanoogans, not punishing the most vulnerable.

No matter where you live, this is a chance to win some incredible, positive change for countless families in Tennessee.

Thank you for your help,
