Friends -
In April, the House passed a bill to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act with bipartisan support.
The bill has been sitting in the Senate ever since, until this week when Republicans decided to weaken the bill before it could be voted on.
Republicans in the Senate are refusing to include provisions that would close the boyfriend and stalker loopholes that allow domestic abusers to obtain firearms.
Republican Senators need to do their jobs and allow a vote on the House-passed Violence Against Women Act.
So today, we’re using our voices to demand they pass this vital piece of legislation, and we need your help:
More women are shot and killed in the US than in any other high-income country.
And yet, the NRA believes everyone should be able to keep their guns — even domestic abusers and stalkers.
With your help, we can stand up to the NRA and demand that the Republican Senate brings the House-backed bill up for a vote.
Thank you in advance for making your voice heard,
The team at Giffords
