My name is Basi Alonso and I am the Political Director here at New American Leaders Action Fund. Before we all get caught up in the whirlwind of the 2022 midterm cycle, I want to take a moment to reintroduce NALAF and share some of our exciting plans for the year. 

Let's be real: We've been hearing that this is the election of our lifetime for the last five elections. But this year, it is really is a critical election. For the first time in 10 years, our communities have new electoral districts, meaning that New American candidates have a chance to run, win, and lead in areas we have not represented before. We also have the opportunity to not only defend the hard won progress we've made in passing inclusive, community-centered policies over the last several years, but engage new immigrant and BIPOC voters to elect even more progressive leaders who will help build our movement and mentor a new cohort of New Americans to lead with them.

That's what NALAF is here to help with. 

We are working across the country—focusing our efforts in Arizona, California, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and New York—to build a democracy that represents and includes all people by engaging new voters, supporting New Americans as they run for office, and expanding civic engagement.

But that's just the start of our work. 

In the next few weeks, we have some exciting announcements (including our first 2022 endorsees 👀) and we hope you'll stay tuned on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to be one of the first to know.
