John: There are 700,000 people in Washington, D.C. who pay federal taxes but have no voice in Congress.
Yup, that’s taxation without representation.
It’s time to make D.C. the 51st state. Sign your name now to demand Congress give D.C. residents the representatives they deserve >>
Residents in D.C. pay taxes, serve in the military, take part in their communities, and contribute to our country, all without the right to representation.
D.C. Statehood should be a top priority for every member of Congress. But Republicans will do whatever it takes to keep D.C. from becoming the 51st state.
Why?
Because they know D.C. residents lean Democratic.
If D.C. was a state, we’d probably gain two more Democratic Senators. Brett Kavanaugh wouldn’t have been confirmed to the Supreme Court. Mitch McConnell wouldn’t have been able to pack our courts with right-wing judges. DACA would be safe. Roe v. Wade would be safe. Health care would be safe.
Make no mistake: this is just another Republican attempt to suppress the right to vote. So, it’s on us to turn up the heat and add public pressure to this important issue.
Washington D.C. residents deserve an equal voice in our government. If you agree, sign your name now to demand Congress support D.C. statehood >>
Voting is one of the most sacred rights in our democracy. It’s wrong that Congress would allow 700,000 people to go without it just because of where they live.
We’ve never been closer to making D.C. statehood a reality, but we need to add your voice to the fight.
Thanks for signing our petition.
