As you may have heard, last month our year-long efforts to fund the fight against AIDS, TB, and malaria came to an end. And guess what → WE WON!
On October 10, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and malaria secured US$14 billion in pledges for its life-saving work. With this funding, the Global Fund will help save another 16 million lives over the next three years.
But, John, this is so much more than numbers…
WHAT THIS ACTUALLY MEANS
Connie Mudenda is HIV positive, having contracted the disease “back when the word wasn’t spoken.” Now, she is a proud voice in the fight to end HIV/AIDS sharing her story and wisdom with world leaders at the replenishment conference this year.
“This is no longer about luck. This is about decades of hard work, money, and activism that has delivered counseling, treatment and dignity for millions of people just like me. My life today is because of the people in this room who have chosen to take luck out of the equation and have instead put justice in its place.”
And, John, ONE activists were key players in putting justice in its place through their actions all year long.
