Bias and Inaccuracy in Marketing Noninvasive Prenatal Tests
New Study Calls for Oversight
Bias and inaccuracy are pervasive in the marketing of noninvasive prenatal tests, concludes an early-view study in the Hastings Center Report. The tests are marketed to consumers around the world without regulatory oversight. The study raises questions about the ability to get information on the tests “that is accurate, trustworthy, and ethically responsible.” Read more.

Prioritize Children and Payments to Improve Health Equity Takeaways from "Righting the Wrongs: Tackling Health Inequities"
There is no single policy solution to advancing health equity, but we must prioritize children, said Paula Lantz, a professor of public policy at the University of Michigan, at the health equity summit sponsored by The Hastings Center earlier this year. “It’s overwhelming,” said Lantz during a panel discussion, explaining that we must prioritize policies that address “the shameful levels of child poverty in the United States.” Read more and watch a video of the panel.
